Why join our story?

Creative Expression
Storytelling is a powerful tool. Our workshops give you a space to explore and express your journey, emotions, and challenges. Whether you've told your story before or this is the first time, you'll have the chance to shape it in a creative way, guided by experienced facilitators.

Mental Wellbeing
Taking part in creative activities like storytelling has been shown to reduce stress, increase self-reflection, and improve overall mental health. By reflecting on your journey in a supportive space, you’ll gain new insights, build self-esteem, and take pride in seeing your story brought to life.

Community Connection
Our Story is all about bringing people together. By attending the workshops, you’ll connect with others who share similar experiences, creating a sense of solidarity and empathy that strengthens both personal and community bonds.

What you can expect

Our Story consists of 12 free creative workshops held at The Met Theatre’s Storytelling Hub in Bury. The sessions are tailored to meet the needs of individuals in recovery and those supporting them. You’ll learn how to craft your experiences into stories, using creative techniques that help make complex topics more accessible.

Workshops are designed to be a safe, supportive space, where you can engage with others and freely explore your story. To make participation as easy as possible, refreshments will be provided, and we’ll cover travel costs through a stipend to remove any barriers to attendance.

A legacy of Stories

At the end of the project, the stories and poems created will be published in a collective book. This final product will be a powerful testament to the resilience of the participants. More than just a book, it will serve as a lasting legacy for the entire Bury community, breaking down stigmas, raising awareness, and offering hope to others who may be on a similar journey.

Why this project is for you

Our workshops will provide the tools and guidance to help you share your story in a meaningful way.

Storytelling will allow you to reflect on your experiences and connect with others who understand your challenges.

Our Story is a chance for you to share your perspective, understand the recovery journey on a deeper level, and find solidarity in the process.
